(Russian River Valley, CA, May 5th 2010) -- Russian River Valley
Winegrowers' (RRVW) Millennial
Council, comprised of the region's next generation of farmers,
winemakers and movers and shakers, is hosting its inaugural event, Single
Night, on June 5th 2010 from 6:30 to 10:00pm at C. Donatiello Winery
in Healdsburg, California. Hosted by Warrior's MC Franco
Finn and DJ Samantha Vega of The Fox 101.7, and set in C.
Donatiello's state-of-the-art cellar, the evening jumpstarts with a
showcase tasting of Russian River Valley Single Vineyard wines and
single bites of local food artisan specialties.
The winemakers and
growers who partner to create these small-lot gems will be on hand to
mix and mingle and share their knowledge of the region and its wines. Pete Avdoulos'
Liquid Metal Fine Art Paintings installation and Finn's chill DJ
grooves set the early evening mood. Tickets are $45 in advance and
online only at www.rrvw.org.
"Our goal is to be relevant and accessible to our peers as vintners and as a wine region," said Katey Bacigalupi of John Tyler Wines and member of the RRVW's Millennial Council. "We also want to be proactive in the Russian River Valley's future success and recognition for producing some of the world's most excellent wines. So we see Single Night as our way to share this passion for our craft and our home through this experience. And we want to have fun doing it, our way."
During the Single Vineyard tasting, next generation vintner and grower "Cellar Teams" will promote their Group Bid Adventure Auction Lots to raise funds for educational programs and future events. The lots, hosted by these vintners and growers, are designed for 6 to 10 people to join together and share cost on future adventures in Russian River Valley Wine Country. The stellar winery line up includes: Acorn Winery, Balletto Vineyards, Benovia Winery, C. Donatiello Winery, Graton Ridge Cellars, D&L Carinalli, Dutton-Goldfield, Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery, Foppiano Vineyards, Foppoli, Healdsburg Ranches, J. Lynne, John Tyler, Joseph Swan, Ketcham Estate, Korbel, Landy Family Vineyards, Longboard Vineyards, Lynmar Estate, Merry Edwards Wines, Papapietro Perry Winery, Patz & Hall, Siduri, Siebert, Twomey Cellars, Williams Selyem, Windsor Oaks, and Y. Rousseau Wines.
The night then shifts from the cellar to crush pad where Finn will handle the auctioneer duties. A no-host bar featuring wines that normally retail for under $25 (offered by the taste and glass) and wallet-friendly grilled goods will be available. At the close of the auction, Finn and DJ Samantha Vega of The Fox 101.7 will take to the turntables, transforming the crush pad into a dance floor for an upbeat close to the celebration.
