Part 3 of this series reviews the 8 wines tasted during the Wines of Chile Blogger Tasting that took place May 12, 2010. They are all 2009 vintage so I won't be including that in the titles.
1. Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc Reserva, Casablanca Valley, 100%, 13.5 % abv, $10.99
Tasting notes: clear, light straw in color, medium concentration, medium viscosity; honeydew melon, grapefruit, white peach and jasmine on the nose; add lime, lemon and green apple to the palate - dry, medium body, medium alcohol, medium plus acid and medium finish.
2. Ventisquero Queulat SB, Casablanca Valley, 100%, 13.5 % abv, $17
Tasting Notes: clear, day bright, straw in color, medium concentration/viscosity; green, mineral notes, bell pepper, jalapeno pepper notes on the nose; add grapefruit, black pepper to the palate as well as lime.
3. Unurraga T.H. (terroir hunter) SB, Leyda Valley, 100%, 13.5% abv, $15.99-16.99
Tasting notes: clear, pale straw color, medium concentration, medium viscosity; tropical aromas - coconut, pineapple - green grass, citrus, jasmine, eucalyptus, apple, minerality comes through on the nose; grapefruit comes through on the palate as does the minerality, there is a tartness - medium minus body, medium plus acidity, medium finish.
4. Valdivieso Single Vineyard Wild Fermented SB, Leyda Valley, 100%, 13.5 % abv, $21.99
* Oaked 12 months - French and American oak
Tasting Notes: I will review this at a later date. There were comments that this wine was faulty so we should be receiving another sample shorty to compare.
5. Santa Rita Medalla Real SB, Leyda Valley, 100%, 13.7% abv, $19.99
Tasting Notes: clear, bright light green-yellow color, medium concentration/viscosity; grass, gooseberry, lemon leaf, slight green bean note, green tea, white peach on the nose; aromas reflected on the palate plus some grapefruit, there was a bitterness on the mid palate - medium body, high acid, medium plus finish.
6. Cono Sur Organic SB, San Antonio Valley, 100%, 13.5% abv, $13
Tasting Notes: clean, daybright, medium concentration/viscosity; very zesty and fresh, mineral notes, cantaloupe, yellow apple, kiwi, apricot on the nose; add lime, grapefruit rind, red plum to palate - medium body, medium plus acid, nice finish.

7. Haras de Pirque Haras Estate SB, Maipo Valley, 100%, 13% abv, $12
Tasting Notes: clear, starbright, pale straw with green tinge, medium viscosity/concentration; floral notes, minerality, peach white tea, jasmine, orange blossom, fresh and elegant; the aromas are confirmed on the palate and also add celery note, it's a little tart on the end - medium body, medium plus/high acid, medium finish.

8. Casa Silva Cool Coast Paredones Estate SB, Colchagua Valley, 100%, 13.5% abv, $22.99
Tasting Notes: clear, pale straw, medium viscosity/concentration; clean, zesty and bright, fresh, lime, lemon, hint of mint on the nose; nice palate of grapefruit, lime and endive/arugula - medium plus body, medium plus acidity, nice finish.
I would say of all the wines tasted, my favorite was the Haras de Pirque, followed by the Cono Sur. Overall the wines were all great.
